Berlin Design Week
Every spring, Berlin stakes its claim as one of Europe's most forward-thinking creative cities with the Berlin Design Week — a multi-day festival that treats design not as decoration, but as a driver of social and ecological change.
What to Expect
Designers, artists, universities, and companies from across Germany and beyond open their studios, host talks, set up pop-up exhibitions, and present prototypes that challenge how we live, move, eat, and build cities. The program spans product design, graphic design, architecture, fashion, and digital innovation.
This isn't a trade fair — it's an open festival, with many events free and accessible to anyone curious. Venues are spread across Berlin's creative districts, especially Mitte, Kreuzberg, and Prenzlauer Berg.
Why It Matters for Expats
If you work in a creative field — or just want to understand why Berlin is considered Europe's design capital — this week gives you direct access to the people shaping it. Great for networking and genuine inspiration.
Getting There
Events are city-wide. U2 Potsdamer Platz, U8 Moritzplatz (Kreuzberg), and U2 Prenzlauer Allee are all good starting points depending on the program.
