Umweltfestival am Brandenburger Tor
One of Berlin's longest-running free festivals is back for its 31st edition — and it takes place at one of the most iconic locations in Europe: the Brandenburger Tor.
The Umweltfestival (Environmental Festival) brings together over 200 exhibitors — NGOs, startups, community projects, and activists — all focused on sustainability, climate action, and conscious living. There are hands-on activities, talks, performances, and plenty of interactive stands that make it genuinely engaging rather than preachy.
This is a great event for expats who want to connect with Berlin's progressive, environmentally-minded community. It's entirely free, happens outdoors, and the central location means you can combine it with a walk through Mitte or Tiergarten.
Expect a diverse, international crowd — this festival feels very Berlin: open, engaged, and refreshingly non-corporate.
Getting there: S-Bahn S1/S2/S25/S26 to Brandenburger Tor or U55 to Brandenburger Tor — it doesn't get more central than this.
Note: Scheduled for June — exact date TBC. Check berlin.de for confirmed details.
